Mother's Day Classic (MDC) is a charity that holds the annual Mother's Day Classic event around Australia to raise awareness and funds for breast and ovarian cancer research. I have had the opportunity to work on their merchandise range since 2021 as Lead Designer at Merchgirls.
Each year the goal has been to create merchandise that sells and brings the event to life. With this in mind, the brief is always to create designs that are distinguishable from the previous year, that stand out and colour the crowd, that clearly identify the MDC brand with pink as the main colour and are also wearable outside the event.
With each year's merchandise successfully selling out and raising more and more funds for the cause, MDC continues to partner with Merchgirls and push the boundaries with designs each year.

Sarah, Mother's Day Classic
"The effect on sales was instant. Our first range of socks sold out within 24 hours. We knew we were onto something pretty special. That first year we increased our profitability by about 100%. In year two we doubled our quantities and again increased profitability by another 50%."

Kate, Mother's Day Classic
"People know when they register they have to buy the merchandise then because it is not something that's going to last right up until the event day because demand is growing year on year… What we've produced is some beautiful products and I think that makes a huge difference on the sell-through."
